Indoensia’s pride, Viu Shorts! is back with 16 short films by students

Viu is a leading pan-regional OTT video service from PCCW Media Group recently announced 16 short films of Viu Shorts! by students from 16 cities and districts around Indonesia. A second season of Viu Shorts! will be in the spirit of National Children’s Day.

The initiative aims to cultivate the interests and talent of young Indonesian film creators. The short films were done by students aged between 14 to 19 years old.

These students went through workshops that fostered their love for their homeland and local experiences. An example would be the students from the city of Palu, Central Sulawesi were victims of the 2018 tsunami. They translated their trauma into stories.

These 16 amazing stories are expected to follow the success of the Viu Shorts! Season 1. Here’s the full list of the short films for Season 2:

Each year, one of the most talented students from Viu Shorts! receives a scholarship to study Cinematography at the Jakarta Institute of Arts for four years while receiving an opportunity to work professionally as part of the Viu Original team in Indonesia. This gives the students a platform for them to present their works globally.
