2020 started off rough. Every single celebration you can think of got cancelled. For example, birthdays, weddings, graduations, basically any you can think of. But among all of them, graduations have got to be one of the most important event for young adults everywhere. It is sort of like “Welcome to the real world”. With that in mind, YouTube organised a virtual graduation event, ‘Dear Class of 2020’ for students who were not able to attend their graduation ceremonies in the current coronavirus pandemic.
The news was announced on YouTube’s Twitter account where some details about the event was shared. The best part of this event? ‘Dear Class of 2020’ will be headlined by former President of the United States Barak Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. What a great way to celebrate the achievements of students.
The next best thing about the event? The celebrities giving the commencement speeches and the musical performances. Speakers include Barak and Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Sec. Robert M. Gates, Sec. Condoleezza Rice, Malala Yousafzai, and the K-pop group BTS.
Musical performances from Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, and others will take place. YouTube said there will be a “surprise special guest”. There will be a number of special appearances including AsapSCIENCE, Dude Perfect, The Try Guys, Kerry Washington, and more.
