Taika Waititi, Director of the hugely successful Thor: Ragnarok, has confirmed to be directing and co-writing with Krysty Wilson-Cairns on a new Star Wars film. This was confirmed on his Instagram Account where he shared a report of him with the caption “Guess it wasn’t a rumor after all. Psyyyych!”.
There is no additional information or details on which character this film will be based on, but one can only imagine after his involvement in the Disney Plus series the Mandalorian (Taika Waititi voiced and directed some of the episodes).
Disney seems to be making a push to make Star Wars better and more relevant after the conclusion and somewhat disaster that was Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. and the critical success that is the Mandalorian.
With this news, Oscar-Winner Taika Waititi has 2 of the biggest projects out there in Hollywood, with the other being Thor: Love and Thunder, slated to be released in 2021, which might be delayed due to the current pandemic.
