Soi 19 – Thai makes better Wanton Mee than Chinese | Singapore Food Review

Wanton Mee is not a native Thai dish, in fact, it was a dish originated by the Cantonese and a favourite among the Chinese. But the Thai do what they do best, taking a popular dish, and making it even better.

Here comes Soi 19 Thai Wanton Mee. With 6 outlets in Singapore, Soi 19 is proving that they are not to be trifled with, so we headed down to give it a try.

The Wanton Mee is very different from what you expect. Instead of an abundance of sauce to mix with the noodles, there was no sauce to be seen. Yet, the noodles felt smooth and the texture had a nice bite to it. Lard was plentiful in the dish, giving a sinful fragrance to the noodles too. The Wanton was decent, tasty but nothing to shout about and the biggest disappointment comes from the Char Siew, which was a little dry.

The Wanton Mee comes in 3 different sizes: Regular, Large & Jumbo. We recommend that you go with Regular while purchasing additional sides to keep you full. My personal favourite is the Deep Fried Tofu and the highly recommended side to order is the Fried Pork Meat. There are plenty more sides to choose from and you will be spoilt for choice.

Overall, Soi 19 Wanton Mee offers a wide range of Thai sides. The signature dish is a well made and thought out noodle dish that is affordable and could be extravagant at the same time. We will give Soi19 Wanton Mee a BRUTAL APPROVED.
