Romantic yet cheap dinner places for Valentine’s day

Ah Valentines’ Day, where everything becomes overpriced overnight. We bet that every guy in the low SES bracket will probably be thinking: I don’t want to spend too much money but I also don’t want to look like a cheapskate. Sometimes it’s really hard to find a place that’s atas yet affordable at the same time.

In this write-up, I will be recommending romantic yet affordable restaurants with different settings and cuisines so you can impress your Valentine on a budget.


If your ideal setting for a Valentines’ dinner is by the sea then this is the right place for you.

Located at the heart of Siloso Beach, Trapizza serves scrumptious Italian cuisines ranging from thin-crust pizzas to seafood pasta.

Follow up plan? Head to the beach for a romantic stroll.

Be prepared to spend $25 – $40 per pax.


Not really the outdoor type of person? Try this place.

It is located at 70 Collyer Quay, #01-03 Customs House which is not that accessible by public transport, so do yourself a favour by getting a Grab. Unless you know your date doesn’t mind walking. On the plus side, taking a stroll together creates more time for meaningful chats 😉

Longtail serves a variety of cuisines including Thai, Laos and Vietnamese food ranging from Pork Knuckles to Chicken Stew.

And most importantly, it’s not that expensive.

Be prepared to spend $20 – $50 per pax.

Pasta Brava

If your date is a Italian fanatic then this is the place to bring them.

Located at 11 Craig Rd, Tanjong Pagar, Pasta Brava is in the heart of the CBD area which is perfect if your date works nearby. Pick her up right after work and kick start the night of romance.

Be prepared to spend $25 – $45 per pax.


French food simply oozes romance like no other, but they usually cost a bomb. Not this one. We found a place that fulfils this requirement.

Located at 2 Handy Road, Concetto by Saveur have a French-influenced Valentine menu that is perfect to bring your date to. It’s still a little pricey but the choice of cuisine is well worth it.

Be prepared to spend $50++ per pax.


On a scale of one to ten, how much do you love Mediterranean? If it is above seven, then this is the right place for you.

Located at 24 Raffles Place, Platyplus is not really expensive given that the ingredients are crustaceans. If you are trying to impress your date with something different, this is perfect for you.
