Ever wonder what goggle Michael Phelps wears? Well…here is your answer! The Speedo speed socket is used by Michael Phelps who bagged 28 medals from the Olympics games. Another well-known swimmer, Caeleb Dressel recently swam in these in the 2017 FINA World Championships, winning the 50 and 100 freestyles, and the 100 butterfly, two of which are the fastest ever performed in a textile suit. So, what’s so good about this goggles that even the legends themselves are using?

Speedo FastSkin3 Elite Goggles

Nathan Adrian, Missy Franklin, Joseph Schooling you name it. They all competed under the Speedo logo and broken many world records using these goggles. Aside from their AMAZING stamina and their MONSTROUS build, they are accompanied by their equipment. Some of these swimmers are our idols and as much AS WE HATE TO ADMIT IT! We FUCKING love to copy them, there are some things we can’t copy for example, stamina and body but what we can copy is the EQUIPMENT! But DON’T JUST BUY FOR THE SAKE OF BUYING, so what’s so good about these goggles?

Pros

  • This goggle is developed in Speedo’s high-performance research facility Aqualab. What they do there is to make the best fit goggle seal. Designing it in a way that it is leak-free fit.
  • It has peripheral vision. As a swimmer WHY DO YOU EVEN BUY GOOGLES IF YOU CAN’T SEE PROPERLY UNDERWATER? With peripheral vision, swimmers are able to properly judge walls when making turns
  • This goggles also has UV protection that is suitable for outdoors! NOW you don’t have to worry to change your goggles when swimming outdoors!
  • Afraid that it wouldn’t last long? DON’T WORRY! The strap is made with silicon that is able to last a much longer time as compared to latex which would degrade after a while.

There is actually so much more pros to this goggle but some of the properties are a given. For example, Anti-fog, it’s slim profile and of course the anti-glare (although there is not much glare in the pool, but play safe just in case!)

Cons

  • The goggles are a little pricey compared to other goggles costing at a WHOPPING price of $60SGD!

Verdict

Goggles are one of the most important gears when it comes to swimming. Different swimmers have different parts of the goggles they are anal about. But all in all, it really depends on what:

  • Type of swimmer you are
  • Budget you are working with
  • Purpose should it serve
  • Are you most particular about

Because of the different needs of different swimmers there really isn’t a perfect pair of goggles out there! So, I would advise you to list out what you see in a goggle and DO YOUR RESEARCH!
